Have you ever stopped and to think about how far technology has come?
I had that experience last night. I was going to write about things you may not realize are a part of bank, but I feel that this notion takes first priority!
Like I was saying, last night I was sitting in my bedroom and I remembered that I really needed to make another savings account that I could stash money away in for future expenses like a car, wedding, house, etc.
I wanted to make the account right then and there because if I told myself I'd get to it the next day or whatnot I knew I would end up forgetting.
And because I find this so fascinating, I want to share with you the exact experience I had and maybe you will feel half of the appreciation I do for technology these days.
First, I just picked up my iPhone, tapped on our mobile banking app, and logged in. Then I selected "new savings account" and chose what type of services I wanted attached to my account. After that was choosing the people I wanted to have access to the account (which was just me! I don't need anyone else taking my money!); and lastly was picking out where I wanted to take the initial deposit money from and this part is also quite neat in itself.
I wanted to take the money from a checking account at a different banking institution. I already had the information available to use within the app because I have made transfers from my accounts but I thought I would test out a pretty neat feature. I grabbed my checkbook and took a picture of one of my checks.
That's it. Just a picture of the front and all of the necessary information was filled in for me.
Within probably two and a half minutes of me deciding to make a savings account, I had one.
Clearly the ways of banking are changing with our desires. Being able to create an active savings account on your cell phone in minutes would be absolutely ludicrous 40, 20, even 5 years ago!
If you are not a customer to Bumble Bee Bank yet, maybe you are a customer of USAA. USAA (United Services Automobile Association) also has the capabilities to make a savings account in minutes. I strongly encourage you all to take a moment and just think about all the things technology can now do. The things we can do today are amazing and it's fabulous to think that everyday is an improvement.
